An abandoned mine.
The Desperate Mine is approximately 5 kilometres north-west of the Delma Mine. The mine is situated in a gully in the foothills east of Mount Powell. There are no access tracks to the mine. Several small dumps can be seen.
P. Missagia worked the mine from 1949 until around 1956. There was also another (un-named) Italian working at the mine, and three indigenous surface workers from the Alyowarra tribe. Missagia's wife also lived at the mine.
This mica mine is unusual in the region for its abundance of sulphides, mainly pyrite and chalcopyrite. The pegmatites are hosted by biotite gneiss
