Gold-bearing quartz-carbonate veins, hosted in schists.
Mount Vampire (2645 metres) is 8 kilometres west of the Aoraki/Mt Cook village. The Sealy Range is inbetween the two, with the Mueller Glacier at the base of the mountain. This alpine area contains a number of mountain peaks of similar height surrounding Mount Vampire. The area is snow bound all year, except on vertical cliffs where snow cannot get purchase. Rock and ice avalanches in the area have been reported.
