The pegmatite is 25 kilometres north west of Mukinbudin, along the Barbalin-Koonkoobing Road, and five kilometres north of the intersection of this road with Whyte East Road. It is 100 metres west of the road, in a patch of scrub surrounded by cleared wheat fields. There is a one metre deep pit and small mullock piles. The pegmatite is named after Kevin and Patricia Cosh, owners of the farm the pegmatite is sited on.
The deposit was first mined by Robert (Bob) Jones in 2002 for pink microcline and quartz for decorative gravel and for inclusion in paving tiles. No active mining could be seen from the road on visiting in 2011.
The pit exposes the pegmatite which shows a microcline wall zone with biotite, a microcline-quartz-biotite border zone, and quartz core. Vughs in the core were said to contain white to glassy quartz cystals up to 12 centimetres long. Considering the proximity of Cosh's North pegmatite, topaz is also possible. This pegmatite remains largely unexplored.
