Agate and jasper from the Giancavallo fief (Feudo di Giancavallo), administered by the Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco di Calatamauro, have been described by Tata (1772). Records on agate and jasper from the municipal territory of Bisacquino, in which Giancavallo is located, are found in Jervis (1881).
