A small mine which worked two east-west trending lodes, called North Lode and South Lode, which consisted of quartz with hematite, sphalerite, pyrite and shoots of copper ores, and a presumably north-south trending lode, called Great Lode, which carried silver-lead ores and tin.
North Lode and South Lode were opened up to a depth of 16 fms and 8 fms, respectively, by two shafts north and northwest of Pennance Mill, which are now obliterated. Great Lode was worked from a third shaft about 200 yards east of Pennance Cottage, where a small overgrown dump remains on the boundary between the caravan park and a field. A record of 14 tons of lead ore from Pennance Stamps in 1856 may refer to this mine.
The grid reference marks the dump at the eastern shaft, where Hamilton Jenkin found "galena and much pyrites" in 1962.
