Historical mining group named "Mina Almellones" (referred in Professor Salvador Calderon book "Los Minerales de España") mined for lead-zinc ores in Upper-Triassic-Rhetiense dolomitic strata sequence belonging to Malaguide Complex. The mining works are mainly shaft, subsurface trenches and small adits which follow irregular galene veins. Dolomite bedrock is thickly bedded, light grey colour, strong, and vertically jointed, and mineral deposit (galene veins) seems to be stratiform in conjunction with minor Fe-Zn-(Sb) ores. The veins are between 1-5 cm thick, occasionally within rich iron oxides horizons and minor zinc mineral assemblage (hydrozincite).
