The Nerrin Nerrin Gold Mine is 5 kilometres south of Bardoc. Initially some rich gold was found but it quickly faded. The mine was owned by a Melbourne syndicate in 1896, the lode 8 feet wide showing coarse and fine gold freely. A 5 head battery was erected in 1897. 24 acres. W.B. Smith, Steele and Harry (surnames) were noted as mine managers during its short life.

Barely two years after it had taken up the mine, the Melbourne syndicate is requesting an extra 10 000 pounds capital to pay off a 4000 pound debt and finance the sinking of a new shaft. The director states he is very disappointed with the results from the mine. One year later the mine is on tribute, and the focus appears mainly on using the battery for public crushing.

A new shoot was discovered in 1903, using the new invention Ernest Lidgey's electrical ore finder. Lidgey was a geological staff member with the Victorian Mines Department, who developed a contraption which sent electrical signals into rock, and a resonator recorded the signal bounced back to indicate if metals were in the rock.

As an example of how quickly these mines fade away, the following was written in 1907: 'One passes through a virgin gum forest yet to be defiled by the axeman, and in a valley lies the old Nerrin Nerrin, isolated and alone. Tall poppet heads rise above the trees, all the tracks to it obliterated and overgrown, the heap of sands, old rusted steel ropes and tanks'.

Gold mineralisation is associated with sub vertical and flat lying quartz veins similar to the Zoroastrian mine. Gold is associated with a dilational jog of a north-east to south-west structure, and also a series of steep dipping porphyry hosted stopes in the 110 metre deep historic shaft.

There is an Indicated and Inferred resource of 96 000 tonnes of ore at 2.50 g/t yielding 7700 ounces of gold. Excelsior Gold Limited at the time of writing was planning to develop several pits in the area including one at Nerrin Nerrin.

Due to the number of small workings in the area, the Mindat co-ordinates are approximate.
