Mountain mainly consisting of spilitized and brecciated basalt.
Sasso Tignoso means "Stone with ringworm" due to the unattractive appearance of the weathered rocks and because it is an inhospitable place.
Baryte, datolite and green prehnite are found in pillow basalt. Some quartz veins contain pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite.
