Innisfree Station
Stoklosar Marble Quarries Ltd. mined sparkly, fine crystalline pink marble for terrazzo chips from late 1950s to early 1970s from six small quarries. Massive tailings pile contains marble in white, buff, peach, pink, red, grey, purple and banded varieties. Cubic pyrite, magnetite, and hematite crystals, hematite after pyrite pseudomorph, massive sugary reworked quartz, tiny quartz points in vugs, reworked gneiss, biotite, lepidolite, and amphiboles have also been discovered. The 125 acre property contains a number of contact zones between different types of bedrock ranging in age from approx 450 to 1600 million years.
