The Norwegian database of cultural heritage sites lists two Reiersdal localities (see links below): Reiersdalgrua Nedre (ID 231883) at 58.324216129363,7.7956047181995 and Reiersdal Øvre (ID 231886) at 58.322604918126,7.7939312887122.

These quarries were worked in the early 1900s, and are situated south of the Reiersdal farm.

Griffin (1979) describes a locality "above" the Reiersdal farm, and indeed at the Mindat coordinates of 58.3287,7.79701 a quarry can be seen at the LiDAR map.

Description: First described as "Britholite-(Y)" by Griffin et al. The analysis published in their paper however showed that the sample studied had a high content of F (1.18 wt%), thus > 50 apfu and should be a fluorbritholite according to the revision of the nomenclature of the apatite supergroup (Ferraris et al 2010). Britholite-(Y) may occur at the locality but further studies are necessary.

Habit: Occurs as crystals 5-20cm large crystals, metamict amorphous
Colour: Light tan to chocolate brown with greasy to adamantine lustre on fracture surfaces
Description: First described as "Britholite-(Y)" by Griffin et al. The analysis published in their paper however shoved that the sample studied had a high content of F (1.18 wt%), thus > 50 apfu and should be a fluorbritholite according to the revision of the nomenclature of the apatite supergroup (Ferraris et al 2010). See also type description of fluorbritholite-(Y) (Pekov et al 2011) Occurs as crystals 5-20cm large crystals, metamict amorphous. Contains microsopic inclusions of several phases (apatite-CaF, tombarthite-(Y), calcite and possible thalenite-(Y) ? )
Keiviite-(Y) ?
Formula: Y2Si2O7
Description: As microsopic inclusions in britholite-(Y). Secondary, formed by alteration along fractures. The mineral described as "thalenite" from Reiarsdal is probably Keiviiite-(Y). Griffin et al. (1979) notes that the "thalenite" is identical with the phase beta -Y2Si2O7 mineral with thortveitite structure reported from Høgetveit, Evje and Åskagen, Sweden.
