About DiallageHide

Formula:
CaMgSi2O6
Name:
Named in 1801 by Rene Just Haüy from the French "C'est à dire, diffèrence" [from amphibole or feldspar].
A variety of Diopside

A variety (diopside-hedenbergite-augite solid-solution member of the pyroxene group) specifically showing prominent {001} parting and originally supposed to be a distinct species. Occasional misidentifications included orthopyroxene, e.g Metalloidal Diallage = Hypersthene and Talkartiger Diallage = Diaclasite.
