Hendersons Quarry, Mount Ngongotaha, Rotorua District, Bay of Plenty Region, New Zealand

Taken during the 2007 N.Z. Micro-mineral Symposium field trip, 21 October. Osumilite was found about 40 metres to the right of the cars visible parked on an upper level. Some good specimens of other minerals have been recovered from the crushed metal piles on occasion, but most collecting is done on the higher levels.

Motukorea (Browns Island)

Jan 2007. Motukorea (Browns Island) from North Head; the island is one of the Auckland Field volcanoes, and shows several features - tuff ring, scoria cone, and lava flows. The Type Locality for motukoreaite, which occurs as a cement between blocks of basalt.
