Searching for the Old Lime Quarry in Boxboro MA

Last Updated: 2nd Jan 2023

By Jonelle DeFelice

I recently became obsessed with finding the old lime quarry/kiln in Boxborough MA. Long story short, between a tip from a local and looking at lots of online maps and aerial photos, I finally found it. Or at least I THINK I did.

Probably not anything special to anyone but me (again, the locals seem to know it's location) but I was happy to find it (it was the principle of the thing...). The actual KILN location I haven't figured out yet, though. I am pretty sure it is on private property just to the west. I have also located what I am about 90% sure are the dumps (or at least one of them). Old reports stated that the dumps were abound with mineral specimens. I have yet to find anything interesting in them. I don't want to mess around much there as I need to find out what the policy is at the location.

Anyhoo, for anyone interested in a lime quarry unused for over 150 years looks like, look at the Mindat location page!
