Improving Mindat.orgPhoto upload bug

29th Sep 2016 23:09 UTCAlex Earl 🌟 Expert

Recently I have been going through my old photos, and replacing the old images with new ones of better quality because I have a new camera setup. I just started using a new stacking software, and I noticed that when I re-upload a new photo it still shows the camera details in the description as "Apple iPhone 5c" even though I am using a Sony camera. The stacking software seems to not be saving the original camera used in the output image, so I think mindat is just leaving the old camera in the details?

Here are a few examples (you can easily tell because the iPhone 5c is not a 24mpix camera):

Alex,

I believe you mentioned that you are now using Zerene. By default, it does not save exif data when stacking. I believe that can be changed. You might want to go to photomacrography.net and ask there. The develper of Zerene is the moderator there.

This is a bug and the old details should be removed in this case.

I'll look into it!

Thanks Jolyon! It isn't really annoying to me, but I thought I would point it out.

Thanks Doug, I will look into that!

Alex,

On Zerene , to keep exif data to your saved works.

Option>Preferences>Input/output>Image saving>Copy metadata from source images to saved output images

Thank you Jean-Marc, I was able to find it, and it works now. I am still in the trial version, and I noticed it is a pro only feature. I plan on buying the personal edition, and not the professional edition, at least for a little while, but I found a way to edit the photo properties in the output image, so in the meantime before I buy the pro version, I can still have the information saved.
