The Paramount Gold Mine is approximately 4 kilometres north-west of the Two Chinamen mine which borders the Riverina-Lake Ballard Road. A rough track heads initially west of Two Chinamen, and then swings north-west passing between two hills. Not alot remains at the site.
The deposit was discovered by Jack Walls and Syd Pass in 1937, shortly after the Two Chinamen discovery. Within two years they had extracted 135 tonnes of ore for 335 ounces of gold from hand mining.
The mine was owned by W. Borman and his son during the war years, who obtained ore from the 180 foot level of the main shaft.
Immediately after the war, in 1946, the Two Chinamen Gold Mining syndicate, made up of Perth and Kalgoorlie businessmen, took over the mine, then let it out to tribute. The Paramount Gold Mining Syndicate name was spun off to claim ownership of the mine.
This was active with regular crushings into the 1950's, generally 50 to 100 tonnes per parcel, with half this amount in ounces won. At least one dividend was paid.
In 1947, it is noted the tributers have located a new leader. There were two shafts on the lease called Main and 47 feet to the west, Nesbitt's shaft. The leader was located in the Footwall. Ore was worked from the 80 to 160 foot depth. George Vujcich and party were tributing for the majority of the time here in the late 1940's.
