The Magic deposit has been explored by Silver Lake Resources since 2014. It is close to the abandoned Mirror open pit, at the far south-east section of the Mount Monger area, about 3 kilometres south-east of the Daisy-Milano mine.
A conceptional mine plan estimates 690 Kt of ore at 6.9 g/t yielding 140 000 ounces of gold. Total resource is estimated at 1.8 Mt at 4.7 g/t yielding 276 300 ounces.
In 1920, geologist E. de C. Clarke investigated the area, and made the following general remarks. The country rock is chloritic, talc-carbonate, and serpentine. It is flanked to the north-west by coarse grained greenstone, and the west by whitish clay. The deposits are flanked to the east again by whitish clay. Rich auriferous quartz leaders are found in the kaolin.
Ultra basic rocks carry lode formation but no quartz veins. In places seams of opaline silica, and magnesite nodules are abundant. A small area of asbestos like serpentine was found, but of no commercial value. Weathering of the rocks creates a dark clay. The belt trends north-west to south-east through most of the mines in this section.
The chlorite rock is dark green, massive and not sheared. It contains numerous octahedral magnesite. The chlorite rock lodes contain splashes of granular gold in the heart of the stone, like impregnations found with chromite and copper.
The talc-carbonate rock shows some signs of shearing, containing very fine and heavy gold. The rock is white to grey, and sometimes spotted from iron oxides.
The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate, and marks drill-hole exploration immediately east of the abandoned Mirror open pit.
