Noted by government geologist Gibb-Maitland in 1908, as an early example of the consolidation of prospectors leases, which has continued to this day. The gold mine is really a gold area, covering 300 acres, and much of the goldfield. It included Golden Crown GML 365 (formerly GML 311), Beaton's Hill GML 373 (formerly GML 371), Cook's Hill GML 471 (formerly GML 412), Rejected No. 2 GML 501 (formerly 416), and parts of the Golden Promise No. 1 GML 671, and Central No. 1 GMl 691.
