Puits Jabin


The "Jabin" pit was commissioned in 1835 and reached a final depth of 592 meters over the decades. In 1871 and 1876, 256 miners lost their lives in two devastating firedamp explosions. In 1941 the shaft was shut down.

The shaft was owned by the mining company "Société Anonyme des Houillères de Saint-Étienne"
