From 1896 to 1911, the mining company "Compagnie des mines de Montrelais" opened up the coal deposits in the "de Montrelais-Mouzeuil" concession via several tunnels and the "Castellane" shaft. In the 1940s, as a result of World War II, operations resumed sporadically. In 1949 all activities were terminated.

The geo-coordinates refer to the location of the former colliery site.
