A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 11, T9N, R13W, SBM, 0.2 km (0.1 mile) E of Tropico Hill (coordinates of record), on the NE slope of the hill (5 miles NW of Rosamond). The property comprises 180 acres. Owned by Milwaukee Mining Co. (1914- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. This is an old prospect that was later consolidated into the Tropico Mine holdings.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes NE-SW and dips 25S. The vein is 2 feet thick with a granite footwall and a slate hanging wall. Local rocks include Tertiary nonmarine rocks, undivided.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 97.54 meters and comprised of a shaft with 3 levels, 2,000 feet of drifts and a 200 foot long stope. Water was obtained from springs.
