Locality type: | Quarry |
Classification |
---|
|
Species: | Fluorapophyllite-(K) |
Formula: | KCa4(Si8O20)(F,OH) · 8H2O |
Comments: | The designation of the "fluor" prefix is inevitable, as fluorite is abundant there. The "K" suffix is likewise assumed inevitable, as the secondary geochemistry is thoroughly lacking in the alternative of sodium. In the 1980's, a seam of 1-2mm pseudo-cubic crystals with octahedral corner truncations was found, with heavy sprinklings of them covering about two square feet of surfaces that could be extracted. In addition to nice micros, a fairly showy choice plate was obtained about 4 x 4 inches square. |
