PhotosFluorite - Heights Mine, Westgate, Weardale, North Pennines, Co. Durham, England, UK

29th Sep 2017 14:18 UTCJamison K. Brizendine 🌟 Expert

Its pretty safe to say that this specimen probably comes from the Middlehope Shield Mine, White's Level, Westgate in Weardale (https://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?loc=106605&min=1576). The beveled edges on the fluorites usually points to this specific locality and a lot of these specimens were erroneously labeled as coming from the Heights Mine.

Bumped as this still hasn't been resolved...

Several Weardale locations, including Heights, produced fluorites with bevelled edges. What is the matrix of the piece?

For some reason the bevelled edges are usually found on twinned crystals and rarely on un-twinned ones.
