The strata on Beukesplaas are assigned to the Tapinocephalus Assemblage Zone, which is Middle Permian in age." (Modesto et al., 2009). Radioisotopic data constrains the likely age of the Tapinocephalus Zone to Capitanian (Rubidge et al. 2013).
