Green Mountain Skarn; Bessemer Iron Mine


Mineralization is a breciated skarn zone with cavity fillings of hematite and quartz, including spectacular pseudomorphs of hematite after an unknown mineral that is commonly suspected to be epidote. The zone trends from the north end of the Summit of Green Mountain into the south end of Bessemer Ridge. The notable specimens have come from the Bessemer Ridge side of the skarn.
