Situated on the southern boundary of the Edna May mine lease, on the northern outskirts of Westonia. The original reference from the 1974 mineralogical magazine article only mentions the Champion mine in passing as a location for clinobisvanite. Westonia itself when visited in 2012 is part historic gold mining town/ part modern mining camp for the Edna May mine. Very limited information was found on the Champion gold mine, all relating to the early 1900's.

Mine manager in 1917 was Aldridge (surname), and is noted as supervising the dismantling of the gold processing plant to be transferred to the Edna May mine. It is also stated at this time the Edna May Company held an option over the lease to purchase it. Prior trial mining was said to have been conducted by the Golden Point Company on a vein it named after itself. In 1919 the mine was held by the Champion Syndicate of Oglethorpe, Ryan and party, (lease 3158), although the Edna May mine still held a controlling interest.

The mine contained a shaft and was in diorite shale interspersed with numerous narrow veins of quartz containing gold and bands of hornblende gneiss. There was frequently occurring micaceous schistose veins at intervals across the strike, and kidney shaped bulges of quartz.

West of here is the Campion Lake and nature reserve which also hold mines like Chandler and Lake Campion mine. Chandler at least mined alunite for potash. Dick's Reward listed on Mindat is 5 kilometres south-east of the Lake Campion mine. It appears the mine does not relate to the clinobisvanite locality.
