Åmland is the name of a farm and a hamlet. It is located south of the Fv 42 road (Arendalsvegen).

In Andersen's time only two Åmland quarries were known (Åmland 1 and Åmland 2), but later mining added a few more.

NOTE Ronald Werner august 2021:
The Åmdal 1 and 2 localities were visited 1 september 2021. Landowner Tore Magne Buås kindly showed me the Åmdal 2 quarry, a round hole in the wall, with an inclined shaft behind a simple wooden shutter. Buås told me his grand-grandfather Mats Åmdal operated these quarries between appr. 1900 and 1925. The feldspar was transported during the winter by horse and sledge. Buås told me that the water that runs into the shaft during winter/spring is used for filling up his swimming pool. It seems as if the entire hill may consist out of pegmatite. The exposures of pegmatite in the nr. 1 quarry are not fresh enough to be of interest for geological study. No obvious accessory minerals were observed at the dumps.

The house where Buås lives nowadays, replaced a farmhouse dating back from ca. 1750.

The coordinates are given for the original farmhouse that carried the name Åmland, according the Norwegian maps.
