Unusual fibrous white datolite, confirmed by XRD, occurs with other minerals and zeolites in altered Eocene volcanic rock exposed in a double sided roadcut along Forest Service Road 90 just west of the mouth Quartz Creek with the Lewis River, in Skamania County, Washington. The site was first found by John Cowles in 1963 when the road was under construction. The datolite vein ran vertical on the north side of the road exposure where fluorite was also later found in breccia. Pointed heulandite was found at the south side of the cut in a breccia area that was usually stained light yellow due to iron stains. The smell of sulfides was present.
