O.K. claims
A former Au-Pb-Ag-Cu-Mo-W occurrence/group of claims/mine located in the SWΒΌNWΒΌ sec. 22, T28N, R18W, G&SRM, in the White Hills, 9 miles W of Garnet Mountain, 4 miles W of Hualapai Wash, 15 miles S of Lake Mead, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Discovered 1882 by Patterson, Rowe & Fox. Operators included Walter Fleck, Barkley, Skoglie, John Larlow, Malco Gold Mining Company, C.L. Fleck, Ben F. Griffith. The USGS MRDS database accuracy for this locality is not stated.
NOTE: There are 3 USGS MRDS database files involved in this (or 2) localities. File #10027787 references file #10161860 which applies to an O.K. group. File #10026992 pertains to the O.K. group. File #10027787 has a unique set of geographic coordinates. Files #10161860 & 10026992 share the same approximate geographic coordinates, which are substantially different than the coordinates found in file #10027787. It would appear that there are 2 localities with similar names (see: ).
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in gneiss. The ore body strikes N65E and dips 75NW at a width of 0.46 meter. The ore favors the hanging wall, but where overturned, the ore is on the footwall. Mineralization is associated with Cretaceous, massive white quartz veins. Quartz monzonite, aplite and pegmatite are 2 miles away from the deposit (direction = ?) Molybdenite is associated with galena and wolframite. Associated rocks include Late Cretaceous-Neoproterozoic quartz monzonite, pegmatite and granite. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic metamorphic rocks.
Local geologic structures include foliation in granite vertical striking N30E.
Workings include underground openings with a length of 487.68 meters and an overall depth of 60.96 meters, and comprised of about 1,600 feet (500 meters) of adit drifts, winzes and stopes on 4 levels.
Analytical data results in 1909 averaged $10 Au/ton (period values).
