The site of some ancient large hushes was later worked by the London Lead company for lead from Deerfold and West Hush Levels, the main gangue mineral is barytes and in 1937 Athol G Allen (Stockton) Ltd aquired the lease and began reworking the old levels for this mineral. Later the mining shifted to opencast methods.
Fordamin Ltd took over the mine in 1985 and Closehouse Minerals Ltd in 1989. THe mine closed shortly after the turn of the century and is now abandonned with all plant having been removed from the site.
No levels are currently accessible though there is some mineralisation to be seen in the opencut and spoil.
