Controls for ore emplacement included fault-fracture structural control. Local rocks include (Phanerozoic/Cenozoic/Tertiary) Lower and Middle Santa Fe Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 6.1 meters and an overall length of 45.72 meters. Workings reported in 1961 consisted of 4 shallow inclined adits and an open cut. (the topo map reflects 2 groups of 3 prospect pit symbols labeled "prospects" at this point).
Farnham (1961) reported about 200 tons of Mn ore, ranging from 20 to 40% Mn, was produced from 1917 to 1955.
New Mexico Fluorspar Corporation: Last Chance, Mescalero, Bonanza, Esperanza, La Pala Azul and 2 de Abril claims in Woolfer Canyon.
