Allanite, the rare earth element epidote, was...name Ca2Al2Mn3+Si3O12(OH) no separate name (var. “thulite”) Alí1Mn3+ Alí1V3+ Ca2Al2V3+Si3O12(OH) no separate...consistent in the literature. The variety names “thulite” for Mn3+ bearing and “tanzanite” for V bearing...tanzanite. We therefore recommend using the terms “thulite” and “tanzanite” only for petrographic or gemological |
