Black Pine Mine, Philipsburg Mining District, Granite County, Montana, USA

This particular specimen of kuksite was collected by myself on the main dump of the Black Pine Mine, Granite Co., Montana in July of 1993. It was found in a 25 mm pocket in quartz attached to small (0.5 - 0.8 mm)azurite crystals. Width of crystal group is approximately 0.1 mm

Associated species not seen in this image are azurite, baryite and mixite. Acicular greenish yellow crystals, also not shown on this photo, were checked by EDS giving an almost identical pattern as for both the crystals in this photo and juanitaite from the Gold Hill Type Locality in Nevada. These acicular crystals are actually zoned with the juanitaite at one end and mixite at the other end. Collected in April 2002
