An old shaft north of Sticken Bridge hamlet was identified by Hamilton Jenkin as Old Wheal Golden, quoting a report in the Mining Journal of 6 Nov 1858. It appears that the mine was earlier known as Perran Vale Mine, which was mentioned "at Sticken Bridge" in the Mining Journal of 14 April 1832.

Collins (1912) reports that a Perran Vale Mine at Perranzabuloe sold 94 tons of copper ore worth £442 in 1830-1. Though, a mine worked under this name around 1830 cannot be located at Perranzabuloe. The same record was listed earlier by Phillips and Darlington (1857), but without providing a specific location for the mine. Thus, it may be that it was mis-located by Collins and the record really refers to this mine.
