Ordinary Chondrite, Low Iron (L6)
1.6 kg, weathered fragments

In 1963 J. W. Flanigan of Waynesburg, Kentucky brought a suspected meteorite fragment to the University of Kentucky. It was one of several found originally on a farm near Walltown. The original mass may have been as much as ten times the mass of the fragment. The specimen was a badly weathered fragment of an ordinary chondrite. The specimen exhibited no fusion crust and both exterior and interior were dark reddish-brown in color. The rock exhibited extremely small flecks of free metal and indistinct chondrules. While analysis was sufficient to identify the Walltown meteorite as an ordinary chondrite, its extremely weathered condition has apparently precluded significant additional study.

The Walltown meteorite is one of 25 meteorites, including 6 ordinary chondrites, recovered in Kentucky prior to 2014.
