The mine is adjacent to the Try Fluke Mine, on Bald Spur, 2 kilometres south of Kuaotunu. H.S. Hornibrook is mine manager, then late 1890's it is J.R.S. Wilson. Its early history was not found, however the Kapai and Vermont leases amalgamate in 1893. Historic gold mines.

In 1896 it is purchased by an English syndicate, however it was not to last long. The Jupiter lease is taken over in 1897.

In 1898, the company defaults on its debts. A mortgage was held over its assets by the shareholders, who place the company in liquidation, and in turn the liquidator calls in the bailiff. The virtually new Krupp mill, along with the mine is sold at public auction.

Early 1900 the lease is worked by the New Zealand Mines Trust. In 1900 the Kuaotunu Syndicate takes over the lease, which also amalgamates with the Mariposa Mine. A small government subsidy is given to deepen the Mariposa shaft. The mines go through a period of 15 months protection, which caused a public protest meeting to be called in Kuaotuna. Local communities generally detested protections given to mines, and wanted them seen operational for local employment, and to generate income for businesses. It was decided to employ a solicitor to challenge the warden's decision. In 1902, 500 then 400 tonnes of ore is crushed.

John Carroll applied for the lease in 1907, and in 1909 news is floated of sinking the shaft deeper, but no more information was found.

Mindat co-ordinates are approximate.
