Houghton property; Mohawk-New Year Mine
A former underground Au-Pb-Mo mine located in sec. 26, T8S, R16E, adjacent to the Mohawk Mine on the East, on private land. First consolidated with the Mohawk Mine, then consolidated with the Mammoth Mine to form the great Mammoth-St.Anthony Mine. Owned by Sam Houghton (1926-1932); then, by a subsidiary of the Molybdenum Corp. of America (1933- ). (see the Mohawk Mine for further details)
The outcrops to the SE are mantled by Gila Conglomerate.
Workings included the vertical New Year shaft. Workings crosscut a wide, low-grade vein on the 425 level.
