Lees Ferry


A petrified wood occurrence located 7.3 km (4.5 miles) NE of Marble Canyon (town), near Lees Ferry (historical locale), along the Colorado River. The latitude and longitude were taken from the center of sec. 19 per the MRDS file.

Mineralization is a small deposit of petrified wood hosted in the Late Triassic clastic sedimentary rock of the Chinle Formation. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
