A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic & drift mine located in the NW¼NE¼ & in the NE¼NW¼ sec. 15, T13N, R12E, MDM, 1.8 km (1.1 miles) N of Kentucky Flat (coordinates of record) and about 4.6 km (23½ miles) E of Volcanoville, on private land within a National Forest area. The claims contain 90 acres. Operated by the Volcanoville Mining Company. Operated during the 1880's & 1890's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings. Initially operated as a hydraulic mine, subsequently as a drift mine.
