A Na-K deposit located in sec. 5, T7S, R36E, MDM, about 3.4 km (2.1 miles) NE of Cuna Spring, along Beer Creek, on National Forest wilderness land (Inyo Mountains Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. There is a prospect symbol on the topo map in the E½E½SE¼ sec. 5. This locality is not at all located on Deep Springs Lake (Deep Springs Playa).
NOTE: The USGS MRDS database provides geographic coordinates of 37°2'4"N, 118°2'13"W, and states that the locality is located in sec. 5, T7S, R36E, MDM. The coordinates place it far to the S of Deep Springs valley area. Research of the coordinates for the center of sec. 5, T7S, R36E, MDM, reveals that that section has coordinates of 37°22'9"N, 118°2'53"W. Sec. 5 is in the Deep Springs Valley area (eastern margin of the White Mts); therefore, the latitude value presented in the MRDS file is in serious error. The coordinates presented in this Mindat file are those presented in the MRDS file, with the latitude corrected to 22 minutes.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
