The Delevan Mining Company was organized in 1846 to work three mineralized veins that were discovered on the property. A later report stated that the property had no sign of veins and that only amygdaloidal trap rock with epidote and zeolites were present. A shaft had been sunk in this material, but proved to be unsuccessful and the mine was abandoned in 1849.
