A former small surface and underground Ag-Au-Cu-Pb-Zn mine located in the SE ¼ sec. 5, and the center N½ sec. 8, T.21S. (T22S ?), R.10E., 2¾ miles S of Arivaca. Produced 1938-1939. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by Boyd & Torrey; and the Byfield Mining & Milling Co. Owned by Mr. Watkin Jackson (1977). Mr. Ken bacon had unspecified involvement here (1979).
Mineralization is oxidized and weathered, spotty base metal sulfides with some free gold near the surface, in an irregular, lensing quartz-fissure vein cutting metamorphosed Cretaceous sedimentary formations (shale, sandstone). An associated rock unit is granite.
Workings include shaft and small open cut openings. Worked in 1938-1939. Produced some 300 tons of ore averaging about 0.2 oz. Au/T and 0.4 oz. Ag/T, a trace of Cu and 0.4% Pb, probably sold as smelter flux.
