Comments:Spinel is ubiquitous at Cabonga as it is an aluminium rich granulite grade terrane.
The best specimen are found in coarse to pegmatitic marble dykes. Blue is the most
common color followed by red. Rare pink Zn bearing spinel up to 10mm also exists.
Some of the marbles are very rich in spinel but unfortunately specimen bigger than
3 or 4mm are very rare. In the marble spinel is often associated with apatite and
also included in the apatite.

Colour:Blue, Red, Brown, Pink, Purple
Luminescent properties:Some of the pink spinel have a weak red fluorescence under UV
Quality for species:Good crystals or rich for species - important (!)
Abundance at site:Very common
