About FelsiteHide

As a rock term initially used for the microcrystalline groundmass of porphyries but now more commonly used for microcrystalline rocks of granitic composition. The name had previously been used by Kirwan (1794) for a microcrystalline variety of feldspar. Synonym of: felstone, aphanite
