About Kaiyuhite
Name:
Kaiyuhite was widely distributed in the early 1980s by the late Tony Dunn, a young mining geologist who died in an accident during exploration in Alaska. The mineral was "being worked on" as a new mineral species, but Dunn soon advised his contacts that the new species status was abandoned, because kaiyuhite was probably a mineral similar to baumhauerite.
Found as silvery gray anhedral to sub-hedral 1 cm crystal cross-sections embedded in galena. The mineral is bright on reflected surfaces. The "cleavage" poor to discontinuous. No data or description were ever published.
