Enter a mineral/rock name (eg Almandine), and part of a region name (eg Alaska) and this search will find all photos from localities within the region of that mineral. Select type of photo to search and either check all photos or select a subtype for the photos. Alternatively, enter a keyword or photograph type and optionally a locality or mineral name. If you are just looking for photos of a mineral or from a location, the photo gallery links on the mineral and locality pages are easier to use.

DEK-KE7Hematite Fe2O3 , Quartz SiO2

Lechang Mine, Lechang Co., Shaoguan, Guangdong, China

Dimensions: 161 mm x 135 mm x 85 mm

This is a very impressive and rich specimen of hematite and quartz that is impressively large and full of pretty details! Clusters of fanned out tabular hematite form a 3-dimensional landscape, studded with a number of glassy, colorless quartz crystals. The hematite is dark grey and provides a perfectly contrasting background for the quartz. The larger quartz crystal sits at the very center of the piece and draws the attention right to it! All around this piece is in very good condition with some peripheral contacts but no damage to any of the main crystals! The bottom is cut, the rest is just pure nature!

Lechang Mine, Lechang Co., Shaoguan, Guangdong, China

9.0 x 6.7 x 5.6 cm. Moderately lustrous, rust-brown hematite "iron roses" cover the top and both sides of this sculptural specimen from recent finds at the Lechang Mine of China. The cluster of water-clear quartz needles on one side is a very nice accent, even with a couple of broken crystals. Very highly representative combination material from this locale.
