Described as the eastern lode for Narra Tarra, its remains are now probably part of the extensive Narra Tarra site. It is a 1.37 kilometre shear zone, with ore in a linking structure, in garnet gneiss and granulite. Oxidation reaches 30 metres from the surface. Active 1946-1958, workings covering a length of 350 metres, and 162 metre depth, producing 86 868 tonnes of ore for 13 839 tonnes of lead.
Narra Tarra East is an extension of the Protheroe mineralised shear. In fact Narra Tarra, Narra Tarra East and Protheroe are all part of an extensive mining area, showing pits, shafts, mullock, relict plant and buildings. Worked for secondary copper ore on the Hanging Wall of the shear at its southern end. Mined for lead between 1874-1880, in a 3-4 metre wide breccia zone containing 60-90 cm wide veins of limonite. Narrow quartz veins and pegmatite in the shear.
