The long history of mining has left its clearest traces in the Brandholz municipal district, which can be seen in the Mittlerer Name Gottes visitor mine. In the village was also the Fürstenzeche, which Dürrschmidt mentioned in 1800; the building of the former mining authority has been preserved. Brandholz was incorporated on May 1, 1978.
