F2V-V3EAndradite (Var: Demantoid) Ca3Fe3+2(SiO4)3
Soghan, Arzuiyeh County, Kerman Province, IranLargest Crystal Size: 15 mm
Green colour variation of Andradite (var. demantoid) crystals from Soghan (intergrowth crystals, upper left, 11 mm).
PPU-6T6Andradite (Var: Demantoid) Ca3Fe3+2(SiO4)3
Soghan, Arzuiyeh County, Kerman Province, IranDimensions: 9.5 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm
Serpentinite matrix specimen of sharply-formed and nicely scattered crystals of andradite-uvarovite form Soghan. It ranges from yellowish or brownish green to ‘golden’ green, and – the rarest – ‘emerald’ green. The formation is related to ophiolite, east of Jiroft including Bagh Borj and Soghan with andradite-uvarovite composition with metasomatic origin. (Dimensions: 9.5 x 6 x 5 cm).
E49-GGAHematite Fe2O3
Hormuz Island, Qeshm County, Hormozgan Province, IranLargest Crystal Size: 2.9 cm
A cluster of heavily striated corundum-like crystals of hematite (Largest crystal length 2.9 cm). It looks like a prism with the basal pinacoid; whether the crystals are strongly tapering prisms, or steep bipyramids or perhaps steep rhombohedra. The striations may be due to a layered growth mechanism, and the striations may be caused by alternating faces of a bipyramid {113} or {111}. (Lacroix, Minéralogie de la France, 1893/1895 describes crystals like these)
K6F-FCEHematite Fe2O3
Larak Island, Qeshm County, Hormozgan Province, IranLargest Crystal Size: 1.5 cm
On the Hormuz Island, there are several crystal forms of hematite including a form of scalenohedron which was considered as jewelry since at least 1800 BC (Makovicky et al., 2014). Larger crystal (right) length 1.5 cm and smaller crystal (left) length 1.3 cm.

UUD-T26Hematite Fe2O3
Hormuz Island, Qeshm County, Hormozgan Province, IranLargest Crystal Size: 4.2 cm
A cluster of heavily striated barrel-shaped crystals of hematite (Largest crystal length 4.2 cm; specimen 8 cm in height). It looks like a prism with the basal pinacoid; whether the crystals are strongly tapering prisms, or steep bipyramids or perhaps steep rhombohedra. The striations may be due to a layered growth mechanism, and the striations may be caused by alternating faces of a biyramid {113} or {111}. (Lacroix, Minéralogie de la France, 1893/1895 describes crystals like these)
