The Mount Fisher Gold Mine can be found by travelling 140 kilometres east of Wiluna, and then 50 kilometres south along the little used Wonganoo-Mount Fisher Road. This last road is little more than a glorified track. The area is remote and care should be taken.

The deposit was opened in 1935 by Hammerston, Atkins and Critch (surnames), with several crushings of the richest ore carted the long distance to the Wiluna state battery. They had tunnelled 30 feet into the side of the hill, near the summit.

Across 1987 to 1989, 23 700 ounces was obtained from a small open pit at 5.3 g/t. The pit and accompanying tailings heap borders the west side of the road/track.
