A Ni occurrence located in sec. 33, T21N, R7E, MDM, 0.5 km (1,500 feet) SE of Quartz Hill (coordinates of record) and 3.3 km (2.1 miles) NE of Rogerville. Discovered in 1957. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Cretaceous serpentinite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Quartz Hill is underlain by serpetninite upon which lies a thin cover of tan lateritic soil. 20 acres of lateritic soil is said to be less than 3 feet thick.
Field tests with dimethylgloyoxeme indicate trace amounts of Ni. No samples were taken or assayed.
